"Brother, the day before is a havan on a new house.
It is a holiday. You all have to come,
I'll send the car. "
Younger brother Lakshman said to elder brother Bharat while talking on mobile.
"Are you shifting to a small, rented house?"
"No brother, this is your house, not a rent."
"Apna Ghar", came out of Bharata's mouth with sheer surprise.
"Little did you even tell that you have taken your house."
Laxman disconnected the phone, saying "Just brother".
The words "Apna Makan", "Bas Bhaiya" were ringing in Bharat's mind like a hammer.
Bharata and Lakshmana, two real brothers, and the age difference between them was about fifteen years.
When Laxman was about seven years old, his parents died in an accident.
Now all responsibility for the upbringing of Laxman was with Bharata. In this affair, he got married soon, so that Laxman could be looked after properly.
While working as a clerk in a private company, a large part of India's salary would have been spent in a two-room rented house and Lakshman's education and living. In this affair, even after many years of marriage, Bharat did not produce children.
The larger the family, the more the cost.
On completion of studies, Laxman got a job in a good company, and then got married soon. Due to the lack of living space with his elder brother, he took a second rental house.
Anyway, now Bharata also had two children, a girl elder and a boy younger.
When Bharat told his wife about taking the house, she was in tears. She said

On Sunday morning, the car sent by Laxman, with Bharata's family, stood in front of a beautiful house.
A hook arose in the mind of Bharat after seeing the house. The house was more beautiful from outside than it was beautiful inside.
Complete arrangement of all kinds of comforts. Seeing the two identical parts of the house, Bharat said in his heart, "Look how much Chote is concerned about his two boys. We have already prepared two equal parts for both of them.
The entire house will not be less than Rs 1.25 crore. And I am the one who does not even have the arrangement of lakhs or two lakhs for the marriage of a young daughter. "
Bharat had tears in his eyes while looking at the house,

That's when Pandit ji shouted,
"It is the time for Havan, the owner of the house should sit in front of the fire pit for Havan."
Laxman's friends said, "Panditji is calling you."
Laxman said this,
"I am not the only owner of this house, my elder brother Bharata is also there.
Whoever I am today only and only because of them.
This house has two parts, one of them and one of mine. "
While sitting in front of the Havan Kund, Lakshmana whispered in Bharata's ear, "
"Brother, don't worry about the daughter's wedding at all. We will marry her together."
Throughout the Havan, Bharata was wiping the water from his eyes,

" भैया, परसों नये मकान पे हवन है।
छुट्टी (इतवार) का दिन है। आप सभी को आना है,
मैं गाड़ी भेज दूँगा।"
छुट्टी (इतवार) का दिन है। आप सभी को आना है,

छोटे भाई लक्ष्मण ने बड़े भाई भरत से मोबाईल पर बात करते हुए कहा।
" क्या छोटे, किराये के किसी दूसरे मकान में शिफ्ट हो रहे हो ?"
" नहीं भैया, ये अपना मकान है, किराये का नहीं ।"
" अपना मकान", भरपूर आश्चर्य के साथ भरत के मुँह से निकला।
"छोटे तूने बताया भी नहीं कि तूने अपना मकान ले लिया है।"
" बस भैया ", कहते हुए लक्ष्मण ने फोन काट दिया।
" अपना मकान" , " बस भैया " ये शब्द भरत के दिमाग़ में हथौड़े की तरह बज रहे थे।
भरत और लक्ष्मण, दो सगे भाई ,और उन दोनों में उम्र का अंतर था करीब पन्द्रह साल।
लक्ष्मण जब करीब सात साल का था तभी उनके माँ-बाप की एक दुर्घटना में मौत हो गयी।
अब लक्ष्मण के पालन-पोषण की सारी जिम्मेदारी भरत पर थी। इस चक्कर में उसने जल्द ही शादी कर ली, कि जिससे लक्ष्मण की देख-रेख ठीक से हो जाये।
प्राईवेट कम्पनी में क्लर्क का काम करते भरत की तनख़्वाह का बड़ा हिस्सा दो कमरे के किराये के मकान और लक्ष्मण की पढ़ाई व रहन-सहन में खर्च हो जाता। इस चक्कर में शादी के कई साल बाद तक भी भरत ने बच्चे पैदा नहीं किये।
जितना बड़ा परिवार उतना ज्यादा खर्चा।
पढ़ाई पूरी होते ही लक्ष्मण की नौकरी एक अच्छी कम्पनी में लग गयी ,और फिर जल्द शादी भी हो गयी। बड़े भाई के साथ रहने की जगह कम पड़ने के कारण उसने एक दूसरा किराये का मकान ले लिया।
वैसे भी अब भरत के पास भी दो बच्चे थे, लड़की बड़ी और लड़का छोटा।
मकान लेने की बात जब भरत ने अपनी बीबी को बताई तो उसकी आँखों में आँसू आ गये। वो बोली
, " देवर जी के लिये हमने क्या नहीं किया।
कभी अपने बच्चों को बढ़िया नहीं पहनाया। कभी घर में महँगी सब्जी या महँगे फल नहीं आये।
दुःख इस बात का नहीं कि उन्होंने अपना मकान ले लिया, दुःख इस बात का है कि ये बात उन्होंने हम से छिपा के रखी।"
इतवार की सुबह लक्ष्मण द्वारा भेजी गाड़ी, भरत के परिवार को लेकर एक सुन्दर से मकान के आगे खड़ी हो गयी।
मकान को देखकर भरत के मन में एक हूक सी उठी। मकान बाहर से जितना सुन्दर था अन्दर उससे भी ज्यादा सुन्दर।
हर तरह की सुख-सुविधा का पूरा इन्तजाम। उस मकान के दो एक जैसे हिस्से देखकर भरत ने मन ही मन कहा, " देखो छोटे को अपने दोनों लड़कों की कितनी चिन्ता है। दोनों के लिये अभी से एक जैसे दो हिस्से (portion) तैयार कराये हैं।
पूरा मकान सवा-डेढ़ करोड़ रूपयों से कम नहीं होगा। और एक मैं हूँ, जिसके पास जवान बेटी की शादी के लिये लाख-दो लाख रूपयों का इन्तजाम भी नहीं है।"
मकान देखते समय भरत की आँखों में आँसू थे,
जिन्हें उन्होंने बड़ी मुश्किल से बाहर आने से रोका।
तभी पण्डित जी ने आवाज लगाई,
" हवन का समय हो रहा है, मकान के स्वामी हवन के लिये अग्नि-कुण्ड के सामने बैठें।"
लक्ष्मण के दोस्तों ने कहा, " पण्डित जी तुम्हें बुला रहे हैं।"
यह सुन लक्ष्मण बोले,
" इस मकान का स्वामी मैं अकेला नहीं, मेरे बड़े भाई भरत भी हैं।
आज मैं जो भी हूँ सिर्फ और सिर्फ इनकी बदौलत।
इस मकान के दो हिस्से हैं, एक उनका और एक मेरा।"
हवन कुण्ड के सामने बैठते समय लक्ष्मण ने भरत के कान में फुसफुसाते हुए कहा,
" भैया, बिटिया की शादी की चिन्ता बिल्कुल न करना। उसकी शादी हम दोनों मिलकर करेंगे ।"
पूरे हवन के दौरान भरत अपनी आँखों से बहते पानी को पोंछ रहे थे,
जबकि हवन की अग्नि में धुँए का नामोनिशान न था
भरत जैसे आज भी
मिल जाते हैं इन्सान
पर लक्ष्मण जैसे बिरले ही
मिलते इस जहान

काश सभी को ऐसे भाई मिले।
रिश्तों को संजो कर रखिये,
रिश्तों को संजो कर रखिये,
याद रक्खिये, ये आपके जीवन की सबसे बड़ी पूंजी है,
पैसे तो आते रहेंगे जाते रहेंगे लेकिन रिश्ता एक बार गया तो दोबारा नही आयेगा।
